    On Saturday evening (16th April) in St Martin’s church Basildon Choral performed the ‘Messiah’ to a large and appreciative audience. What a concert! It was such a thrilling and moving experience.The orchestra and soloists were all excellent. I shall never forget it. The music is still buzzing around in my head.
    A visiting singer Jo, a soprano from Woodford Singers, just emailed me to say;

    “Just wanted to say thank you so much for an amazing Saturday with Messiah. The more I sang it the more I didn’t want the day to end.

    Your commander in chief is an inspiration, his connection to all performers was brilliant and I am sad that you’re rehearsals fall on the same day as the Woodford singers as I would love to sing with you again. That being said, I’d be grateful if you can keep in touch with any come and sing days.

    Again thank you for the hospitality and an exhilarating experience.”

    The performance of The Messiah, on Saturday evening 16th April, was one of the highlights of my 20+ years singing with BCS. The soloists and the orchestra were magnificent, blending so well with our choral forces, enhanced by a number of visitors from across Essex and Sussex. Stephen brought out the best in all of us for this performance and, now that my voice has recovered, am ready to sing it again!

    Yet another terrific concert and thanks to all the “Come and Singers” who joined with us – I hope you, too, enjoyed the experience! My favourite is “The Trumpet Shall Sound” which was magnificent closely followed by the standing ovation after the Hallelujah Chorus but the whole concert was great.

    What a fantastic evening yesterday. It really was absolutely super. I would even go so far as to say that it was the best rendition of The Messiah that I have heard. Peter Ch.

    Saturday’s Messiah was certainly one of the best concerts we have ever done, and we have been members of B.C.S. for 28 years!

    We were joined for the Saturday “Come and Sing” experience by a cousin, and a sister and her partner. All have asked us to convey their appreciation for a well organised event which culminated in a memorable and inspiring performance of this great work. It was also enjoyed immensely by other family members who came to hear it.

    It was a wonderful experience to sing Messiah with you – thanks for offering us the opportunity to join you for the day, and making us so welcome. You are very lucky to have such an inspiring director in Stephen Hope, who made the day fun as well as producing an impressive final performance.
