Covid didn’t stop us singing!

From April 2020, while we could not sing live together, we made 16 virtual choir audio recordings and 3 videos. You can hear our recordings on our Facebook page and see our videos below.

This is our second video, Bruckner’s motet Locus iste, again produced during lockdown. This time the self recorded videos were edited and synchronised to the audio. We hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it.

We produced this video on VE Day 75. The audio was put together from locked down members’ individual recordings prior to making this video recording on Zoom. We knew that any attempt to achieve co-ordination was doomed to failure!! But it was good fun nonetheless!

About BCS

Basildon Choral Society is an amateur choir with a repertoire that ranges widely from motets, masses and challenging modern choral works to spirituals, jazz numbers and arrangements of songs from favourite musicals. We have four seasonal concerts and give a variety of additional performances throughout the year at the request of churches, charities and private organisations - either with the full ensemble or the BCS Small Choir.

Our membership is widely varied in age and background.

We're an adventurous bunch and have taken concerts to Basildon's twin towns in France (Meaux) and Germany (Heiligenhaus), as well as to Barcelona, Bruges, Erlangen, Florence, Gossweinstein, Krakow, Lille, Ostend, Rome and Venice.

We also enjoy good food and have the occasional social dinner and barbecue!
